
The Bombay High Court has released the official syllabus and exam scheme for the Stenographer (Higher Grade) Recruitment 2025. Candidates applying for this post must prepare according to the updated selection pattern.

❌ There is NO written examination for this post.
The selection process consists only of skill tests and viva-voce, as per the official notification.
📝 Bombay High Court Stenographer Exam Pattern 2025
Candidates will be selected through the following three stages:
1️⃣ Part I – Shorthand Test (40 Marks)
2️⃣ Part II – Typing Test (40 Marks)
3️⃣ Part III – Viva-Voce (20 Marks)
✔ There is no objective test,
✔ no descriptive writing test,
✔ no MCQ exam,
✔ no written exam of any type.
📘 1. Shorthand Test Syllabus (40 Marks)
Format:
- Dictation of 500 words in English
- Speed: 100 w.p.m.
- Time:
- 5 minutes for dictation
- 30 minutes for transcription on computer
What Will Be Tested:
- Speed & accuracy
- Listening ability
- Grammar & punctuation
- Clear transcription without errors
Minimum Passing Marks: 24/40
⌨️ 2. Typing Test Syllabus (40 Marks)
Format:
- English typing passage of 400 words
- Duration: 10 minutes
- Test will be held only on computer
What Will Be Tested:
- Typing speed (minimum 40 w.p.m.)
- Accuracy
- Formatting & spacing
- Error-free typing
- Consistency throughout the test
Minimum Passing Marks: 20/40
🎤 3. Viva-Voce (20 Marks)
What Will Be Tested:
- Communication skills
- Court-related knowledge
- English & Marathi understanding
- Personality & confidence
- Document verification–based questions
❌ No Written Exam – Official Confirmation
According to the Bombay High Court notification:
🔹 “The candidate shall be selected on merit based on Shorthand Test, Typing Test and Viva-voce.”
🔹 There is no written screening test, no MCQ exam and no descriptive paper.
This makes the recruitment entirely skill-based.
